Yacht Runs Out of Fuel Near Bembridge
The Bembridge Lifeboat launched at the crack of dawn to save a 41ft charter yacht, the Ocean Wanderer, drifting helplessly five miles southeast of Bembridge. The vessel, carrying six crew members, had run out of fuel while sailing from France to the Hamble and was dangerously close to entering a busy shipping lane.
Quick-Thinking Crew Gets Engine Running Again
The RNLB Alfred Albert Williams All-Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene by 4.25am. Crew transferred a mechanic over to the yacht along with 20 litres of fuel. After quickly bleeding the fuel system and restarting the engine, the Ocean Wanderer was back underway and able to safely continue its journey.
Lifeboat Escorts Yacht to Safety
The lifeboat stayed nearby to ensure the yacht was steady before heading back. The Alfred Albert Williams was safely recovered by 5.15am, concluding a swift and successful rescue operation.
