Tragic End to Search for Missing Pontypridd Woman

The desperate hunt for Joanne Jones, 49, has ended in heartbreak after her body was found in St Gwynno Forest on Saturday evening. Joanne vanished a week ago after being seen on CCTV smiling and waving as she walked alone into the rugged woodlands.

Last Sightings and Massive Search Operation

Joanne was last spotted near Graigwen Road around 10:05 a.m. on Monday, sporting a waterproof jacket, boots, and carrying a rucksack. Later, she was seen near the Brynfynnon Hotel at 12:45 p.m. before disappearing into the vast 2,644-hectare St Gwynno Forest, popular with hikers and cyclists.

South Wales Police teamed up with Brecon Mountain Rescue and local volunteers for an intense search. Helicopters, scent dogs, drones, and horseback patrols combed the area. Volunteers gathered at Ynysybwl Rugby Club to coordinate efforts, checking fields, woods, and local streets.
