Brading High Street to Shut for Two Nights of Major Roadworks
Brading High Street on the Isle of Wight is set for a two-night closure next week. Resurfacing work will shut the road from 7.30pm to 6am on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Nighttime Resurfacing to Slash Disruption
Island Roads confirmed the work is part of their ongoing resurfacing scheme. Some prep work may begin beforehand to get everything ready. To ease the chaos, the resurfacing will happen overnight when traffic is lighter.
Road Closure and Diversion Routes
The stretch between New Road and Coach Lane will be resurfaced. During this time, a full road closure will be in force. Drivers will be rerouted via Carpenters Road, Station Road, Embankment Road, Kings Road, Forelands Road, Steyne Road, Sandown Road, and Marshcombe Shute.
Residents Furious Over Half Term Timing
Some locals have slammed the timing of the works, calling it “madness” to carry out such disruption during the half term holidays. Island Roads said:
“We hope to keep disruption to a minimum. Nevertheless it is impossible to undertake such work in the heart of the town on a through road without causing some inconvenience. We would like to thank residents and businesses in advance for their understanding.”
“We hope that any short-term localised disruption will be offset by the long-term benefits of having this busy road significantly improved by this work.”
