Blaze Breaks Out in Southampton Tower Block
Fire crews from St Mary, Hightown, and Portchester rushed to tackle a fire at a Southampton tower block this lunchtime.
Kitchen Blaze on 11th Floor
The fire ignited in the kitchen area on the 11th floor of a 19-storey block on International Way, Weston. It’s believed to have been sparked by unattended cooking, Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed.
Massive Fire Response
Six fire crews, including an aerial ladder platform, battled the blaze in the 1960s-built highrise. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.
This latest incident adds to concerns over fire safety in older tower blocks across the city.
