i360 Set for Stunning Relocation Near Belle Tout Lighthouse

A Middle Eastern firm has dropped a bombshell by pulling out of its lease deal with Brighton and Hove Council. Instead, they’ve paid an undisclosed sum but are now aiming to shift the iconic i360 tower to new land near Belle Tout Lighthouse.

Burj Belle Tout: A Tower with a New Name and Home

The company has snapped up land from the National Trust and plans to rebrand the i360 as Burj Belle Tout – with Burj meaning “tower” in Arabic. A bold plan awaits as they also promise to pull the Belle Tout Lighthouse back from its perilous cliff edge, saving the landmark for good.

“We hope to dismantle the i360 in November after British Airways’ sponsorship ends and complete the move by Summer 2024,” said Mr Kidhbat Abri from the company. “Groundworks are extensive and must meet strict National Park guidelines.”

Boost for Local Jobs and Infrastructure

The move isn’t just about the tower. The firm plans to renovate local car parks and introduce year-round public transport links between Eastbourne town and the attraction.

During construction, a nearby farmer’s field will be rented out for a temporary road. Around 5,000 tons of concrete will be mixed on-site to minimise lorry traffic, then pumped up the hill through pipes – a logistical feat sure to cause a stir.
