Fleetmix Cement Mixer Crash Sparks Traffic Chaos in Kent
Thousands of pounds worth of damage was left in a chaos-filled wake after a Fleetmix cement mixer suffered a blowout and crashed into stationary cars in Cuxton, Kent.
Lorry Loses Control, Smashes Into Queued Cars
The Dartford-based lorry lost control on Wednesday afternoon, ploughing into a row of stationary vehicles waiting at temporary traffic lights on the A228 near the White Hart pub. Seven cars plus the cement mixer were written off in the smash.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
A major emergency response was launched just after 1pm. Ten ambulances, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and Kent, Sussex, and Surrey Air Ambulance scrambled to the A228 Rochester Road crash site.
Firefighters used cutting tools to free a trapped driver after their vehicle ended up on its side. A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed three fire crews arrived at 1.04pm following reports of a person trapped inside a vehicle.
Road Closures Spark Traffic Mayhem
The A228 remains closed in both directions as a large-scale recovery and clean-up operation gets underway. Motorists face heavy delays and widespread traffic chaos around Cuxton.
Authorities are appealing for drivers to avoid the area while they clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the blowout.
