A young cat was found horrifically taped inside a plastic bag and dumped by the roadside in Angmering. The chilling incident has been branded “sickening and cowardly” by animal welfare experts.
Terrified Cat Found Sealed in Plastic Bag
The disturbing discovery happened around 9am on Tuesday, March 26, when a local woman spotted what she first thought was rubbish on Roundstone Lane, near a residential entrance. But the bag was moving. She called the police immediately.
Officers told her to open the bag. Inside, she found a young male cat terrified and trapped. Wrapped in plastic sheeting and dust cloths, the drawstring bag was sealed tight with green masking tape.
Animal Rescue Teams Rush to Save Cat
Wadars Animal Rescue was called to the scene. Their animal operations officer freed the cat and rushed him to a vet for emergency checks.
“This is one of the most sickening and cowardly things I’ve seen in many years. It was clearly a deliberate attempt to kill the cat,” said Tracy Cadman, Wadars Operations Director.
She revealed the bag had ‘Dreamcatcher’ printed on the side and contained decorating materials like a paper dust sheet and a blue microfibre cloth stained with white paint.
Charity Launches Urgent Appeal
The cat is now receiving care with Wadars as investigations continue. The charity has urged anyone who recognises the poor animal or has information about the cruel culprit to come forward.
