Gas Leak Sparks Emergency Evacuation at Chase Leisure Centre

Fire crews rushed to Chase Leisure Centre on Stafford Road, Cannock, after a suspected gas leak was reported this afternoon.

Swift Response and No Injuries

The alarm was raised at 2:36pm, triggering an immediate fire service response. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the emergency involved a suspected gas leak but, thankfully, no one was hurt.

Site Evacuated as Precaution

All visitors and staff were safely evacuated while emergency teams cordoned off the area and hunted down the leak’s source. The leisure centre’s services have been suspended until officials give the all-clear.

Investigation Underway – Public Told to Avoid Area

“Our teams were called to a reported gas leak at Chase Leisure Centre. Safety is our top priority, and the centre was promptly evacuated while crews assessed the situation,” said a Staffordshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson.

Authorities have yet to reveal what caused the gas leak. They urge locals to steer clear while safety checks continue.
