Child Left Fighting for Life After Morning Crash in Dagenham

A 10-year-old child has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being hit by a car in a shocking morning crash on New Road, Dagenham.

Serious Collision Near McDonald’s

The horror unfolded around 8:10am on Wednesday, April 23, close to the junction with B178 Ballards Road near the McDonald’s. Emergency crews arrived swiftly after reports of a serious collision involving two pedestrians – a 35-year-old woman and her young child.

Both victims were rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">London Ambulance Service. While the mother’s injuries are not life-threatening, police confirm the child’s condition could have long-lasting effects.

Road Closures and Police Investigation

New Road was shut for hours between Ballards Road and Heathway while emergency services and investigators combed the scene. The road has now reopened.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“Police were called at 08:10 on Wednesday, 23 April following reports of a traffic collision in Dagenham.

Officers found a car had collided with two pedestrians. A 35-year-old woman and her 10-year-old child were taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries, though the child’s injuries are potentially life-changing.

No arrests have been made and no one else was hurt. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

The Met Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to get in touch. Witnesses should call 101, quoting reference 1334/23Apr.
