A heartbreaking discovery was made late Saturday night in North Yorkshire when the body of a 12-year-old boy was pulled from the river in Richmond.

Police launched a desperate search earlier in the day after reports came in that the boy had entered the water and never resurfaced. Specialist teams finally recovered the body around 10:45pm.

Family Informed, Police Offer Support

The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. North Yorkshire Police said:

“We can confirm that a child’s body has been recovered from the river in Richmond this evening. His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.”
