Colindale Police Station Front Counter Shifts as Revamp Kicks Off
Temporary Closure and Relocation Announced
The front counter at Colindale Police Station will shut its doors at 7am on Monday, 5 April. To keep services uninterrupted, Barnet Police Station’s front counter will simultaneously reopen as the local hub—around seven miles away.
This switch is part of a major refurbishment expected to last about four months, aimed at upgrading facilities for police staff and improving public service.
Keeping the Community Connected
Superintendent Louis Smith of the North West Area BCU explained the need for the overhaul. “The building in its current form doesn’t provide our staff with the facilities or equipment to provide the best possible service to our communities,” he said.
He reassured residents the closure is temporary. “This police station and its 24-hour front counter will re-open as soon as refurbishments have been completed.”
No Gap in Police Access
Smith stressed there will be no disruption in police access. “At no point will there be a gap in the ability of the public to gain immediate access to a police station in the local area,” he said.
He urged the public to use all available contact methods during the refurbishment, including:
- Visiting Barnet Police Station for in-person assistance
- Contacting the police online via the official website
- Calling 101 for non-emergencies or 999 for emergencies
- Using Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111
