Kent Search and Rescue Mourns Beloved Veteran Sue Bedingfield
The Kent Search and Rescue (KSAR) team is grieving the loss of long-serving member Sue Bedingfield, who passed away on December 23, 2023, after a brief illness. Sue wasn’t just another volunteer—she was the beating heart of KSAR, proudly wearing the distinguished number 056 after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
A True Pillar of the KSAR Family
Sue’s commitment to KSAR was unmatched. Over two decades, she threw herself into every mission with passion and grit. Beyond the rescue ops, she championed community involvement and tirelessly supported the organisation’s cause.
Her impact on the KSAR family was huge and her legacy will inspire newcomers and veterans alike to reach Sue’s high bar of dedication and service.
Honouring a Legacy of Support and Service
Sue leaves behind her husband Richard, an honorary KSAR member recognised for his vital support alongside Sue—especially during the group’s early days. Their unwavering commitment helped shape KSAR’s proud history and continues to underpin its success.
To pay tribute, KSAR members will form a guard of honour at Sue’s funeral on Monday, January 22, at Margate Crematorium, showing their deep respect for a beloved colleague gone too soon.
KSAR Family Sends Condolences
The entire KSAR family extends heartfelt sympathy to Richard and their sons, Mark and Paul. Sue’s memory is a lasting beacon for everyone involved in the critical, lifesaving work KSAR does every day.
