Explosion in Worthing: Car Bursts into Flames at 2am
Residents of Manor Road, Worthing, were jolted awake at 2am by a deafening bang when a parked car suddenly erupted in flames.
‘Sounded Like a Bomb’ – Locals in Shock
One nearby resident told Sussex News, “I was asleep and it sounded like a bomb had gone off. I grabbed my phone and called 999 immediately.”
Fire Crews Race to Scene, Save Neighbouring Vehicle
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sprang into action, rushing a Worthing fire engine to tackle the blaze. Firefighters found one car engulfed in flames and battling intense heat in breathing apparatus.
Using two hose reels, the crew managed to extinguish the fire, which had also caused damage to the adjacent vehicle.
Cause of Fire Remains a Mystery
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “At around 2am we responded to a vehicle fire at Manor Road, Worthing. Upon arrival, crews found one car well alight. The cause of the fire is unknown.”
