Knife-wielding man sparks terror in West Sussex over 12-hour crime spree

Terrifying rampage shocks Littlehampton and Storrington

A man has admitted to a shocking 12-hour crime spree across West Sussex that left residents shaken. Zac Brazil, 26, with no fixed address, is guilty of eight offences committed on January 3, 2024. The chaos began at around 4:30pm when police rushed to Pengelly Gardens, Littlehampton, after Brazil forced his way into a home brandishing a knife and threatening those inside.

More knife threats and vandalism hours later

Brazil didn’t stop there. At about 8pm, he attacked another home in Ravenscroft, Storrington. Inside, he threatened a woman with a knife and caused minor injuries. Showing a ruthless streak, he also stomped on her glasses, smashing them completely.

Police catch Brazil – drug possession found too

Officers quickly arrested Brazil. A search revealed he was carrying cannabis, adding drug possession to his growing list of charges. But his crimes stretch back even further. The day before his rampage, Brazil was caught driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Facing multiple charges – sentencing set for February

Zac Brazil faces a serious legal battle. He has pleaded guilty to:

  • Criminal damage
  • Common assault
  • Affray
  • Possession of a knife
  • Possession of a Class B drug
  • Failure to cooperate with police
  • Driving without insurance
  • Disqualified driving

At Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 5, 2024, Brazil admitted all charges. He is due to be sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on February 2.

This terrifying spree shines a spotlight on the importance of rapid police response in protecting communities. The court’s sentencing will bring justice to those left fearing for their safety during Zac Brazil’s violent rampage.
