Cowes Lifeboat Launches to Rescue Yacht Caught in Osborne Bay
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat rushed to the aid of a 50-foot yacht in trouble off Osborne Bay this Friday afternoon.
Yacht’s Anchor Chain Gets Stuck
Just after 3pm, the UK Coastguard ordered the Cowes lifeboat to launch following a distress call. A couple sailing from Chichester to Bembridge had anchored in Osborne Bay for a break when their anchor chain became snagged on the yacht’s bow-thrust aperture.
Quick-Thinking Crew Rescues Leisure Vessel
The lifeboat launched at 3.26pm and was swiftly on scene. Using a boat hook and carefully nudging the yacht’s hull, the crew managed to free the stuck anchor chain. With the chain and anchor safely secured, the yacht resumed its journey to Bembridge.
Back to Base After Swift Rescue
The lifeboat returned to Cowes station by 4pm, wrapping up a swift and smooth rescue operation. Another day, another lifesaving job for the RNLI!
