Driver Freed After Massive Four-Lorry Pile-Up on A34 Near Winchester

Chaos hit the A34 northbound near Winchester this morning after a four-lorry crash sparked a major pile-up. Police slammed both lanes shut just after Winnall Roundabout at around 9.45am.

Emergency Crews Battle to Rescue Driver

Fire crews from Romsey, Eastleigh, and local stations rushed to the scene. They used cutting tools to free one trapped driver by removing the door of a lorry involved in the smash.

Long Tailbacks and Traffic Nightmare

Traffic quickly backed up, with snarls stretching onto the M3 northbound. Drivers are warned to avoid the area or check routes carefully before travelling.

Meanwhile, southbound traffic on the A34 crawls past slowly, as rubberneckers slow down to watch clean-up efforts.

Recovery Delayed by Fuel Spillage

Recovery teams and Highways England are working hard to clear the wreckage. They’ve managed to reopen one lane northbound, but a large fuel spillage has slowed progress significantly.

Police and emergency services remain on the scene as they tackle the aftermath of the crash.
