A12 Shut After Horror Essex Crash – Full Roof Removed to Free Driver
Major Crash Blocks A12 Northbound
The A12 northbound is completely closed between junctions 16 (B1007) and 17 following a single-vehicle smash. Essex police are leading emergency response efforts, with all services on site.
Firefighters Cut Roof Off Car to Rescue Driver
Fire crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue had to use cutting equipment to remove the vehicle’s entire roof, freeing a trapped occupant. The dramatic rescue delayed traffic, causing long queues on the approach.
Traffic Chaos – Diversions in Place
Motorists are urged to avoid the area. A local diversion has been set up at junction 16 (B1007), while a longer strategic route guides drivers away and back onto the A12 northbound.
Official Diversion Route
- Leave the A12 at J15 Webbs Farm/A414 junction
- Follow the A414 to the A414/A1114 roundabout
- Take the second exit onto the A414
- At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto A1016
- Continue to the A1016/A130 roundabout, take the second exit onto the A130
- Rejoin the A12 northbound at J19 Boreham Interchange
