BMW Driver Abandons Passenger After Crash on M2 Near Medway

A callous BMW driver fled the scene, leaving their passenger seriously injured after a nasty smash on the eastbound M2 this afternoon near Medway. The coastbound carriageway is now shut between junction 4 (Gillingham) and junction 5 (Sittingbourne).

Massive Emergency Response at Crash Site

The scene is packed with emergency crews. Eyewitnesses report unmarked police cars, three ambulances, three fire engines, a police dog unit, and an air ambulance all scrambling to help. Kent Police confirmed: “Police are currently at the scene on a collision which is reported to have happened on the coastbound carriageway of the M2.

Road Closures and Diversions in Place

Highways England advises drivers to avoid the area. Take the A229, M20, and A249 using the solid circle diversion signs. The crash shut the road at 1:30pm on October 8 while serious collision investigators comb the scene.

Serious Collision Unit Investigates

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are on site conducting enquiries. The southbound carriageway was also briefly closed to allow emergency teams to work safely.
