Tooting Blaze Sparks Fire and Arson Probe

Fire crews raced to a fiery scene in Tooting on Monday night after dumped furniture went up in flames, spreading to the entrance of a block of flats.

Dumped Furniture Blaze Spreads to Flats

Just after 10:30pm, four fire engines were scrambled to Hawthorn Crescent in South London. The blaze started as dumped furniture set on fire and quickly spread, damaging the roof and front of a nearby building.

Firefighters Battle Blaze, One Hospitalised

  • Firefighters tackled the flames using a hose reel and a command unit.
  • A joint investigation by police and fire experts is underway.
  • One person was rushed to hospital following the fire.

Bus Hits Parked Fire Engine During Incident

Adding to the chaos, a Number 1 bus collided with a parked fire engine at the scene. Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries from the collision.
