Teen Charged Over Knife Armed Rushden Road Robberies
Knife Threats Rock Bermondsey
A 17-year-old boy from Bermondsey has been charged with robbery and weapon offences after two men were threatened with a knife on Rushdean Road, November 4, 2020. According to police, the teen stole cash, two mobiles, headphones, and bank cards during the attacks.
Arrest and Court Dates
The teenager was arrested on November 19 and charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court the very next day and was granted bail. His next hearing is scheduled for December 17 at Maidstone Crown Court.
Co-Defendant Faces Multiple Charges After Petrol Station Incident
Matthew Steers, 30, of Rochester, faces the same robbery and weapon charges plus additional offences. On November 17, Steers allegedly assaulted petrol station staff after filling up and refusing to pay. Police stopped a vehicle matching the description the following day, but the driver fled, resulting in Steers’ arrest nearby.
Steers has been hit with numerous charges, including common assault, making off without payment, driving without due care, failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. He was remanded in custody and will also appear at Maidstone Crown Court on December 17.
