Fake Acid Attack Rumours Spark Panic Across UK – Police Slam Hoax

Wild claims of acid attacks on drivers at traffic lights have whipped social media into a frenzy – but cops say there’s no truth to the terrifying stories. Panic spread fast on Facebook, with a single post from one page racking up nearly 1,900 shares in just three days.

False Acid Attack Claims Sweep Facebook

The viral post warned: “There has been reports of acid attacks in Birmingham, Leicester, and Luton. People are going up to cars at traffic lights and knocking on the window and for some reason throwing acid on their face.

It urged drivers not to roll down windows for anyone, no matter how desperate they seem, and to share the warning widely. “Please tell everyone, friends, and anyone you know, it may save a life,” it said.

Cops Shut Down Panic: “No Incidents Reported”

West Midlands Police quickly hit back, telling the public the rumours are completely false. A spokesperson said: “We have had multiple calls about this, but there hasn’t been any incidents. These posts appear to be false.”

Law enforcement stressed there is no evidence acid attacks like the ones described have taken place. But as the hoax spreads, the message is clear: don’t get fooled by scare stories online – stay safe and stay sceptical.
