Massive Explosion Sparks Island-Wide Blackout on Isle of Wight
Thousands of homes on the Isle of Wight have been plunged into darkness following a powerful explosion. This comes just days after a high-voltage power pole caught fire, leaving parts of the island without electricity.
Power Cut Hits Key Areas Hard
The blast has triggered widespread power loss and set off home alarm systems across the island. While much of the Isle of Wight still has power, households in the PO30 and PO41 postcode zones face a complete blackout.
Affected areas include PO30 3, PO30 4, PO30 5, and PO41 0, with residents left in the dark amid ongoing repair efforts.
Engineers Rush to Fix Outage
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) confirmed they have sent engineers to tackle the major outage as swiftly as possible.
For updates, residents should call 105 and quote reference ‘FG4117’.
