Crash Chaos on Isle of Wight Downs as Car Flips Over
Emergency teams rushed to Brading Down on the Isle of Wight after a car flipped onto its roof in a dramatic crash just after 4pm.
Four Rescued from Overturned Car
Police, firefighters, and paramedics responded fast to the scene between Downend Road and Knighton Shute. Fire crews helped free four pensioners in their mid-sixties trapped inside a yellow KIA now resting upside down in a field.
Minor Injuries Reported, Roads Shut
Thankfully, none of those involved appear seriously hurt. Paramedics assessed the casualties who were promptly taken to St Mary’s Hospital as a precaution. The pensioners remain under close medical care.
Major Traffic Delays Expected
Police have shut the downs in both directions. Drivers are being turned back, causing heavy jams. Traffic between the airport and Hale Common on the main Newport to Sandown road crawls at a snail’s pace. The road will stay closed for vehicle recovery well into the evening.
