Early Morning Yacht Blaze Sparks Emergency Rush in Portsmouth
Fireball Erupts on 25ft Yacht
Emergency crews were scrambled just after 4am on Monday to Ferry Road, Portsmouth, after a 25-foot yacht suddenly burst into flames while afloat. The blaze quickly turned the vessel into a fiery fireball, prompting an urgent rescue response overseen by the UK Coastguard.
Firefighters Use Specialist Gear to Tackle Flames
Hampshire Fire and Rescue crews from Southsea, along with Portsmouth RNLI lifeboat and coastguard teams, joined forces to battle the inferno. Firefighters deployed a specialist floating carpet—usually used for mud rescues—to access the burning yacht. Two hose reels were put to work to douse the intense flames.
No Casualties as Lifeboat Sweeps the Waters
The Portsmouth lifeboat carried out a thorough search in the surrounding waters for any casualties. Thankfully, no one was on board or injured. Despite the quick response, the yacht was completely gutted by the fire.
