Tragic Farewell to Scarlett, 29
The family of Scarlett Faulkner vowed today that justice will be served following her untimely death. Scarlett, 29, passed away last Monday at Cork University Hospital after life support was switched off. She had been in a critical condition for three weeks after an alleged attack outside Birdhill village in north Co Tipperary.
Sister’s Emotional Promise
At the funeral held in St Munchin’s Church, Limerick City, her sister Victoria Faulkner moved mourners to applause as she declared, “We promise you sister, we will get the justice you deserve.” Victoria paid tribute with heartfelt words: “You were Daddy’s girl and Mommy’s world, we will love you forever, our sleeping beauty, from your ten sisters and five brothers, and most importantly your beautiful daughter Oceanna, who you loved dearly, the same way she loved you.” She went on to say, “You were a good mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, friend to us all. You’ve left us with a beautiful little girl—Oceanna—a gift from God who reminds us of you so much.” Victoria promised to keep Scarlett’s memory alive for her daughter: “You loved your little girl with all your heart… we promise to show her all the pictures of you and her making fond memories together.”
Family Pleads for Peace at Funeral
Before the service, Victoria relayed a message from her father asking mourners to keep the gathering peaceful and alcohol-free. “If anyone is fighting or any crowds don’t get on with each other, please just pass by—for Scarlett’s sake and today’s solemnity,” she said. “We’ve had the hardest three weeks of our lives. No trouble, no drink—please.”
Priest Calls for Forgiveness Amid Heartache
Canon Donal McNamara encouraged attendees to focus on forgiveness. “Forgiveness doesn’t mean denying pain or excusing wrongdoing,” he said. “It’s a hard journey away from anger towards freedom and peace.” He reminded the family that Scarlett’s bond with her six-year-old daughter Oceanna “is not ended in death but changed.”
Moving Funeral Tributes and Final Goodbye
The church was awash with floral displays and heart-shaped images of Scarlett in happier times. Her lilac casket arrived in a stunning glass carriage drawn by four white horses, adorned with pennants bearing her image. As her coffin was carried out, Celine Dion’s 1996 hit “Because You Loved Me” played, echoing the deep love surrounding her. She was laid to rest at her family plot in Meelick Cemetery, south-east Clare.
Ongoing Investigation
Two suspects are currently before the courts charged in connection with the alleged attack on Scarlett. A post-mortem took place earlier this week, but Gardai have not disclosed the results. Investigations into her assault and death continue.
