Fatal Flat Fire in Beckton: One Dead, Several Injured

Emergency services raced to a block of flats on Tollgate Road, Beckton, following a devastating fire on Thursday evening, 6 April. Police were alerted at 5:28pm after reports of the blaze.

Major Emergency Response

The London Fire Brigade, police, and paramedics swarmed the scene of the fire at 123 Tollgate Road. Crews from Barking and nearby fire stations joined the frantic rescue efforts.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed:

“We were called at 5:26pm today to reports of a fire on Tollgate Road, Beckton. We sent five ambulance crews, incident response officers, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager, alongside our tactical response and hazardous response teams. London’s Air Ambulance was also deployed.”

They added, “We treated five patients before taking them to hospital. Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Investigation Underway, Roads Closed

At present, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Police enquiries continue.

Tollgate Road remains closed with traffic restrictions in place on Bradley Stone Road and Valiant Way, E6, as emergency services work to secure the area.
