Firefighters Race to Tackle Blaze at Historic Ashford Mill
Blaze Erupts at East Hill Mill
A fire broke out at a former mill building on East Hill, Ashford, sparking a major emergency response on the evening of Friday, December 13, 2024.
The flames started in a tree near the property before spreading rapidly to the exterior of the historic mill. Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene at 5:33 PM and battled the fire for over an hour.
Massive Firefighting Effort
Nine fire engines, a height vehicle, and a bulk water carrier were deployed to fight the blaze. Crews used water from hydrants and main jets to douse the flames.
The swift and robust response stopped the fire from causing more serious damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Investigation Launched into Cause
The cause of the fire remains a mystery, with investigations underway. Authorities have not ruled out any theories as they work to pinpoint how the fire started.
