Huge Blaze Ravages Purley Home, Floors Collapse
A massive inferno tore through a semi-detached house on St Denys Close, Purley, last night. The fire was so fierce it caused the first and second floors to partially collapse, sparking a major emergency response.
25-Metre Safety Zone and Evacuations
The fire, which broke out near Pampisford Road, completely gutted the right side of the property. Fire crews set up a 25-metre safety cordon to protect the public. Roughly 20 nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.
Man Hurt as House Goes Up in Flames
A man escaped the burning property before firefighters arrived but was quickly taken to hospital with injuries. The fire alarm sounded at 6.02pm, with crews bringing the blaze under control by 8.42pm.
