Four fire engines and 25 firefighters raced to Great Dover Street, Southwark, after reports of a fire broke out at a row of shops and a hotel. The flames damaged part of a ground floor annex room.
Quick Evacuation and No Further Danger Found
About 40 people evacuated an adjoining building before the fire brigade arrived. Crews checked the building’s internal extraction system but found no further signs of fire.
Fire Under Control Within Two Hours
The Brigade was called at 10:48am and had the blaze under control by 12:43pm. Firefighters from Dowgate, Old Kent Road, and Dockhead stations tackled the fire. Authorities are now investigating the cause.
