Massive Warehouse Blaze Rages Near Uffculme
Firefighters have been battling a huge warehouse fire at a garden centre off the A38 in Burlescombe since the early hours of Friday morning. The alarm was raised at 1:27 am, sparking an urgent response from crews in Cullompton, Tiverton, and Taunton.
Firefighters Send in The Big Guns
On arrival, crews found the warehouse fully ablaze. Initial efforts with three fire engines and an aerial platform quickly escalated as the fire roared out of control. An extra five fire appliances poured in from across the region, including South Molton, Danes Castle, Bampton, Crediton, Honiton, Witheridge, Middlemoor, Bridgwater, Wellington, Wiveliscombe, and Martock.
Battle Through The Night
Fire crews worked relentlessly through the night, using hose reel jets, safety jets, and an aerial ladder to tackle the blaze. Although they’ve made steady progress, firefighters are still hunting down hotspots inside the structure.
Smoke Warning for Locals
Thick smoke from the blaze is drifting across nearby areas. Residents are urged to keep windows and doors shut for safety. The fire service confirms the situation is being scaled down as the flames come under control.
