Blaze in Hayling Island Kitchen Sparks Fiery Drama
Firefighters rushed to a blazing kitchen fire in a two-storey home on Hayling Island this morning. The flames broke out on West Lane, sparking panic shortly after 9.40am.
Neighbours Alerted by Smoke Alarm
A vigilant neighbour sprang into action after hearing a smoke alarm blare from the house. Fire crews from Hayling, Havant, and Cosham arrived fast to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters Fight Flames with Full Force
Four firefighters, decked out in breathing apparatus, battled the blaze using two hose reels and a powerful main jet. The fire is thought to have started from an unattended cooker.
No Injuries Reported as Fire Is Quelled
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:
“Three appliances and an officer attended the scene of a reported kitchen fire. On arrival, smoke was issuing from the property. Breathing apparatus was used during access and the fire in the cooker was extinguished. The property was then ventilated using a fan.”
The quick response ensured the fire was put out before causing further damage to the home.
