Huge Fire Erupts at Titchfield Garden Centre – Fire Crews Race to Scene
Firefighters scrambled to tackle a massive blaze at Solent Nurseries in Titchfield tonight. Three huge plastic polytunnels, each around 50 metres long, erupted in flames just after 8pm.
Flames and Explosions Spark Panic
Residents in Titchfield and nearby areas reported hearing a loud explosion followed by thick, choking smoke filling the sky. Fire crews from Fareham and Hightown rushed to the scene, supported by a water carrier from Fareham, battling the fierce outdoor fire.
M27 Traffic Threatened by Smoke
Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing were also called out, fearing the heavy smoke could force the closure of the nearby M27 motorway. Thankfully, the blaze was brought under control without disrupting traffic.
Firefighters Make Liquid Propane Cylinder Safe
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the fire caused heavy smoke but was extinguished swiftly thanks to the hard work of crews. Firefighters also safely cooled a liquid propane cylinder to prevent further danger. The nursery was closed at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
