Firebreaks Out in Industrial Oven at Gillingham Alloy Wheel Site

A blaze erupted inside an industrial oven at Lepsons Alloy wheel refurbishment in Gillingham’s Railway Street Industrial Estate on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters Rush to Scene with Three Engines and Height Vehicle

Kent Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire engines and a height vehicle at around 3.15pm. Fire crews donned breathing apparatus to tackle the flames and used the height vehicle to remove part of the flue from the roof.

Staff Unfazed: Work to Carry On Despite Fire

Staff at the site confirmed everyone was safe and assured that work would continue after some rearranging. “We are all OK, that is the main thing,” they said.

Cause Unknown, No Injuries Reported

The origin of the fire is unclear, but it is believed to have started in a bin. Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed there were no casualties.
