Blaze Erupts as Telehandler Goes Up in Flames in Southwick
Firefighters raced to Belney Lane in Southwick near Portsmouth after a telehandler suddenly burst into flames this lunchtime, Friday June 15.
Rapid Response from Cosham Fire Crew
Two crews from Cosham Fire Station were mobilised soon after 12:15pm. Eight firefighters swung into action using two hose reels, breathing apparatus, and a high-pressure lance to battle the blaze.
Crews Battle Tough Conditions to Stop Fire Spreading
The telehandler was working near a large pile of silage, raising fears the fire could quickly spread. Fire crews worked hard to contain the flames despite the remote location and a lack of nearby water supply slowing down their efforts.
At the scene, firefighters focused on preventing a full-blown farmyard inferno. The tough terrain and limited resources made this a tricky blaze to handle.
