Firefighters Battle Thatched Cottage Blaze on the Isle of Wight

Fire crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a blaze at a thatched cottage in Brighstone tonight.

Emergency Call Sparks Rapid Response

The alarm was raised shortly after 6pm on Saturday. Two fire engines from Newport raced to the scene on Limestone Road, where the fire broke out in a cosy, thatched home.

Swift Action Saves Cottage

Firefighters found the fire started in a cooker but it was out on arrival. Crews quickly isolated the cooker and made the area safe, preventing the flames from spreading further.

Thanks to their prompt action, the thatched roof was spared major damage.
