Huge Straw Fire Erupts in Hampshire
Fire crews from Winchester, Eastleigh, and Andover rushed to a major blaze in Sparsholt last night. Around 40 tonnes of straw went up in flames on Woodman Lane shortly after 7.20pm.
Water Carriers and Foam Deployed
Hampshire Fire and Rescue hauled in extra water carriers from Winchester to tackle the inferno. The crews battled the fire through the night, finally wrapping up at 8.28am. A spokesman said: “The crews used three main water jets, foam and water carriers.”
Major Incident Still Ongoing
This remains one of two heavily resourced incidents currently underway in Hampshire, stretching the region’s emergency services to their limits.
