Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue’s investigation concluded that an e-bike charging at the time was the probable cause of the fire. Area Commander Stuart Smith warned, “E-bikes and e-scooters are popular, but users must beware of battery risks. Follow simple safety steps to reduce overheating and fire hazards.”

“Substandard e-vehicles can have damaged batteries, increasing fire risk. These batteries store massive energy in tiny spaces, separated by just a thin layer. If crushed or pierced, they can explode.”
