Solar Panels Blamed for Fire; Bakery Staff Praise
“It’s believed the fire was caused by solar panels on the roof,” said Station Manager Simon Forster, who led the operation. “Our thanks go to The Street Bakeshop, who kept open and let us use their facilities. They spotted the smoke early and rushed to help.”
Bakeshop owner Tim Goodwin praised his team’s quick action. “Jared and Emily saw the smoke and quickly ensured the daughter of the owners got out safely. Sonia and Natalia stayed open to support the firefighters. I’m really proud of them.”
Salvage and Damping Down Completed by Evening
By 5pm, crews were salvaging belongings and damping down the site. The fire was officially declared under control shortly after 6.30pm, with just two fire engines and the aerial ladder remaining at the scene.
