Blaze Breaks Out Near Longleigh Lane, Bexleyheath

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters are battling a stubborn grass fire near Longleigh Lane in Bexleyheath. The flames have already engulfed two hectares of grass and shrubland.

Emergency Services Stream Live Footage to Control Room

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have been flooded with 43 calls about the blaze. Thanks to the innovative 999Eye system, callers can stream live video from their smartphones directly to emergency teams. This gives firefighters a crystal-clear picture of the fire’s spread in real time, boosting their response efficiency.

“999Eye improves situational awareness and enables us to provide the best advice based on live footage,” said a Brigade spokesperson.

Fire Crews from Plumstead, Erith, and Bexley Join the Effort

The Brigade was alerted at 4.10pm, and fire stations across Plumstead, Erith, Bexley, and surrounding areas quickly rolled out to tackle the blaze. The cause of the fire remains a mystery at this stage.
