Blaze Breaks Out on Boat at Trinity Buoy Wharf
Firefighters scrambled to tackle a fierce fire on a catamaran passenger boat docked at Trinity Buoy Wharf, Tower Hamlets, on Saturday afternoon.
Engine Room Ravaged, No Injuries Reported
The fire gutted the boat’s engine room, leaving it destroyed. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported during the blaze.
Massive Fire Response Brings Situation Under Control
The Brigade was alerted at 12:45pm, and the flames were brought under control by 2:37pm. A massive response involved six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Poplar, Plaistow, Shadwell, and nearby stations.
Support also came from the Lambeth River fireboat and partners including the RNLI and HM Coastguard.
Cause of Fire Remains a Mystery
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze as the community reels from the shocking incident.
