Blaze Breaks Out on Roof of Three-Storey Block Early This Morning
Roof Engulfed in Flames as Firefighters Rush In
A three-storey block’s roof went up in flames at dawn, sparking a major emergency response. London fire crews arrived to find the roof well alight and quickly tackled the blaze using a 32-metre ladder to douse the flames from above.
Woman Treated for Smoke Inhalation at Scene
One woman suffered smoke inhalation and was treated on site by London Ambulance Service paramedics. Thankfully, there were no reports of severe injuries.
Major Fire Response, Roads Still Closed
- 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters from Orpington, Bromley, Biggin Hill, Beckenham, Addington, and nearby stations attended the fire.
- The Brigade was called at 6.36am and had the fire under control by 8.28am.
- Local road closures remain in place as crews finish up. Drivers are urged to avoid the area where possible.
Station Commander Jim Berry said: “The roof of the building was well alight when firefighters arrived. Crews used one of our 32m ladders to put water on the fire from height.”
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
