Fire crews battled through the night to tackle a devastating fire that tore through a historic thatched cottage on Cressing Road, Braintree. The blaze left the roof completely destroyed, but luckily, the occupants escaped unharmed.

“There has been extensive damage to a historical thatched cottage, but thanks to the skill and professionalism of the firefighters, the fire was stopped from spreading to neighbouring properties and as many personal possessions as possible could be saved,” said Station Manager Howard Midwood. “Our control room team did an excellent job coordinating the response as well.”
