Thatched Cottage Razed by Blaze in Braintree
Fire crews battled through the night to tackle a devastating fire that tore through a historic thatched cottage on Cressing Road, Braintree. The blaze left the roof completely destroyed, but luckily, the occupants escaped unharmed.

Three fire crews remain on scene this morning dampening down hotspots. Meanwhile, Cressing Road is closed between Coggeshall Road and Trotters Field. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes to avoid delays.
Firefighters Praised for Heroic Efforts
“There has been extensive damage to a historical thatched cottage, but thanks to the skill and professionalism of the firefighters, the fire was stopped from spreading to neighbouring properties and as many personal possessions as possible could be saved,” said Station Manager Howard Midwood. “Our control room team did an excellent job coordinating the response as well.”
The cause of the fire is under thorough investigation as authorities assess the full extent of the damage.
