Engine Fails Over Uppingham
Five top jockeys had a terrifying escape this morning when their plane’s engine failed mid-flight. The Piper PA-31, flying from Bagby Airfield to Goodwood, suffered a catastrophic left engine failure just after 10:30am over Uppingham. A loud bang echoed as the engine shut down and the propeller spinner detached, hitting the aircraft’s nose and causing visible damage.
Pilot Pulls Off Daring One-Engine Landing
Despite the drama, the pilot kept his cool. He immediately turned the plane around and flew back to Bagby Airfield on one engine. After a tense 40-minute flight, the aircraft touched down safely at 11:18am, with no injuries to anyone on board.
