Waterlooville Drug Dealer Jamie Sibley Shot in Failed Robbery
A years-long menace to his neighbourhood, Jamie Sibley was left with serious head injuries after a botched robbery attempt in Waterlooville.
Gunshot Heard in Early Hours
A nearby resident, who preferred to stay anonymous, described the chaos unfolding at the flats on Athena Avenue just after midnight on Monday. “I heard the shot ring out. The pair then fled the property immediately,” the neighbour told UK News in Pictures.
The victim, Jamie Sibley, known locally for drug dealing, was shot around 12:50am. Paramedics rushed the man, in his 30s, to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital with serious head wounds.
Suspects Arrested Within Hours
Less than two hours later, police swooped on an address in High Lawn Way, Havant, arresting a 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman suspected of attempted murder.
Officers believe the pair tried to rob Sibley at his property. “The woman is always coming around to the property to score drugs,” a source said.
Major Crime Unit Launches Investigation
Detective Superintendent Darren Rawlings warned locals to expect a heavy police presence. “We currently have two scenes – where the victim was shot and where the suspects were arrested,” he said.
“We want to reassure the community while our investigation continues. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting Operation Endorse, or speak to officers on patrol.”
Police have been searching nearby gardens and properties as the investigation unfolds.
