Therapy Dogs Steal the Show at Kent Police Volunteer Meet-Up

Community Policing Volunteer Jodie Stammers brought her therapy dog, Charlie, to meet the Volunteer Police Cadets for some one-on-one bonding. Jodie also delivered a cracking presentation on the vital roles they play supporting Kent Police.

Busy Dogs Making a Big Impact

Since training was completed in July 2022, the Community Policing Volunteer team and their therapy dogs have been busy as ever. They’ve been out and about at open days, community festivals, and care homes, helping vulnerable people and raising awareness about mental health.

Volunteers and Their Four-Legged Heroes Praise for Positive Impact

“Volunteers are invaluable to Kent Police,” said PC Martyn Tulk, Community Policing Volunteer trainer. “Our canine team gives up their free time to create positive moments with the public. Therapy dogs help reduce stress and anxiety, providing connection when people need it most.”

“It was brilliant to share this with our Volunteer Police Cadets and showcase the range of volunteering opportunities with Kent Police.”

These therapy dogs play a key role in child-centred policing, turning every meeting with young people into a chance to listen and support. They also help connect vulnerable individuals with police, making communities feel safer.
