Four staff members at a troubled Lincolnshire private school have been banned from teaching for life after a string of disgusting and disturbing incidents. Headteacher Adam Webb, deputy head Alison Simmons, and tutors Thomas Hayward and Matthew Oyitch have been permanently prohibited following the shocking treatment of vulnerable pupils.

Vile Abuse at Build-a-Future Independent School

Build-a-Future Independent School in Lincolnshire caters to 125 kids aged 13 to 16, many with special educational needs, disabilities, or mental health issues. Yet, instead of care, pupils suffered horrific abuse at the hands of these staff.

  • Teachers forced pupils to play cricket with a dead pheasant found on the road.
  • They slaughtered live baby chicks and made children play with the remains.
  • Used vile slurs like “donkeys”, “sp@stics”, “window lickers”, “soft c***s”, “fat t***s”, and worse.
  • Mocked the house for children with extra needs as “the sp@stic house”.
  • Threw stones and eggs at pupils while hurling abuse.
  • Encouraged violent playfighting between students.
  • One teacher brought live ammunition into school.
  • Simulated sex acts with pupils (Hayward).

Cover-Up and Consequences

Headteacher Webb and deputy Simmons were reportedly aware of the abuse and even took part. After a whistleblower alerted police, the four were arrested on suspicion of child cruelty and neglect. Although police took no further action, the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) stepped in. The TRA’s misconduct panel met in January and issued lifetime bans. Webb was slammed for “failing to safeguard pupils” and “crossing a clear safeguarding threshold.” Simmons showed “no insight or remorse” and put children at risk through “unprofessional conduct.” Hayward and Oyitch’s catalogue of abuse was so grave that they must wait until 2034 and 2031, respectively, to apply for a review. None attended their hearings or had representation, seemingly accepting their fates.

Shock and Outrage

What possessed these so-called educators to commit such vile acts? Making kids play with dead animals and facing relentless verbal abuse is nothing short of traumatic. One can only hope these victims grow up far from harm. This scandal exposes serious failings at a school meant to protect vulnerable children. The teaching profession must ensure such horror never happens again.
