Big Blow Tops Off Littlebrook Power Station Demolition!
Early risers in Kent were treated to a massive spectacle as the towering 215m chimney of Littlebrook Power Station was blasted to bits just after 8am on Sunday. Twice the height of Big Ben, the giant structure came crashing down in a series of tactical explosions watched by hundreds who’d got out of bed just to see the historic moment.
Iconic Chimney Toppled with Explosive Precision
The mighty chimney was the final giant to fall at Littlebrook, marking the end of the power station’s reign. Closed back in 2015, the plant was deemed too costly to upgrade to modern environmental standards, sealing its fate.
Major Dartford Crossing Shutdown for Safety
The demolition also caused the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, part of the busy Dartford Crossing, to shut down temporarily as safety measures kicked in for the dangerous blast.
Kent Firm Brown and Mason Led the Demolition
Kent-based specialists Brown and Mason have been on the case for the past year, carefully dismantling the power station piece by piece. Sunday’s explosive finale marks the completion of their colossal task.
