Costguard Chopper Executes Daring Night Rescue from Guernsey
A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter launched a dramatic medical evacuation from Guernsey late Thursday night. The twin-engine chopper, Rescue 175, based at Lee-on-the-Solent, was scrambled just after 9pm.
Critical Patient Flown to Southampton
The four-strong crew raced against the clock to transfer a seriously ill patient from Guernsey to Southampton General Hospital. The handover from Guernsey Hospital to the helicopter happened shortly after 10:45pm.
Seamless Lifesaving Operation
Once the helicopter landed at Lee-on-the-Solent, ambulance crews swiftly transported the patient to Southampton General for urgent care. The entire operation was coordinated by UK Coastguard staff based in Fareham, ensuring a smooth and speedy transfer.
