Hastings Bonfire Night 2022: Full Schedule and Key Details

Daytime Fun Kicks Off at 9:30am

  • 9:30am: Under-16s gear up for the children’s Guy making competition at Stade Hall. Judges pick the winner at 2pm, who scores a prime spot on the bonfire.

Evening Extravaganza: Processions, Fireworks & More

  • 5pm: Junior Members march west from the Stade promenade, greeted with a thrilling pyrotechnic salute at the fire site around 5:30pm.
  • 6:30pm: Bonfire societies, drummers and dance bands assemble by the White Rock Hotel promenade. Look for lamppost lettering to find your group. Need a pint or a pit stop? Loos and beers await inside the White Rock Hotel.
  • 7pm: Beacon lit ceremony begins as Hastings runners bring torches to the assembly point.
  • 7:10pm: The iconic America Ground Ceremony takes place.
  • 7:20pm: The main bonfire procession starts! Runners carry lit torches from East Hill’s beacon. Expect firecrackers near Robertson Street and a thunderous mascléta salute from Pelham Crescent to welcome the parade back to the fire site.
  • Around 9pm: When all the processions and fire carts are inside the site, bonfire prayers are shouted. The dignitary then lights the bonfire and torches are thrown in for the dramatic blaze.
  • 9:15pm: Spectacular fireworks and effigy display light up the night sky.
  • 9:50pm: Fireworks wrap up to help visitors catch the last train home. Note: Expect rail disruption on 15th October due to engineering works – check local notices.
  • 11pm: Road closures officially end.

Road Closures and Safety

Road closures kick in from approximately 6pm, reopening between 10:30pm and 11pm. Timings may vary depending on safety checks and police advice. Plan your journey accordingly.
