Frightened Pensioners Evacuated After Fierce Blaze Destroys Gosport Bungalow
Neighbours sprang into action to help after a devastating fire tore through a bungalow in Gosport.
Fire Engulfs Roof in Minutes
The alarm was raised when a local carer spotted smoke billowing from the mid-terrace bungalow on Aspengrove. By the time firefighters arrived at 4:42pm, the roof was fully engulfed in flames. Luckily, no one was inside the property.
Major Fire Response and Evacuations
Fire crews from Southsea, Cosham, Fareham, Gosport, and Portchester raced to the scene. Wearing breathing apparatus, they checked neighbouring homes to prevent the fire from spreading. Elderly residents nearby were evacuated as a precaution.
Community Comes Together as Firefighters Battle Blaze
Despite the swift destruction of the bungalow, Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed no injuries. A spokeswoman said, “All persons have been accounted for.”
Neighbours rallied, offering cups of tea and helping evacuees contact family members. The blaze was finally called out at 5:45pm.
